NEFDOA Eaton E Smith Award

The award is conferred on an individual basis and may be issued annually or only when there is a recipient deemed to have qualified for the award.

Each year, NEFDOA presents its highest honor, the Eaton E Smith Award for outstanding service to the Association and to the field of Food, Drugs, Product Safety and Consumer Protection.  In keeping with NEFDOA tradition, last year’s award recipient, Frank Green, presented the Eaton E Smith Award to Lisa Silva (currently the Health Inspection Program Manager at the Main Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Environmental Health) at the Conference banquet on June 12, 2018, in Burlington, VT.

NEFDOA Associate Member of the Year Award

The award is conferred on an individual basis and may be issued annually or only when there is a recipient deemed to have qualified for the award.

2017 Award Winner

Sue Deslauriers has been in the retail food safety business for over 30 years and an active member of NEFDOA for 10 years.  She started in food safety with A&P and had the northeast region as her territory and was then hired by Big Y Foods in 2003 as a food safety trainer/auditor.  Her passion for training, outgoing friendly personality and her strong knowledge of food safety principles have contributed to a positive change in behavior and increased compliance and awareness of Big Y’s food safety program.

Sue Deslauriers has participated with a panel of experts who were responsible for reviewing questions and revising the job task analysis for the National Registry certification exam.  She has also been active on numerous state and national committees including the Conference for Food Protection, Connecticut’s Food Safety Advisory Group and NEFDOA.

Sue is this year’s NEFDOA Associates Member of the Year, for her valued contribution in promoting food safety within the grocery industry.
